Isekai Adventure: The Death King is a digital tabletop game that combines the branching narrative choices of Create-Your-Own-Adventure (CYOA) stories with the game mechanics of Dungeons & Dragons.

Game Narrative Design Overview

A group of teens have a tradition of playing a tabletop roleplaying game that has been going on for several months. One day, the Dungeon Master (DM) wants to spice things up and finds an old and dusty book with pages written in an archaic language. During the next game meet, the DM reads a spell that speaks of another world to add some ambience to the campaign. In reality, the group is transported to a foreign land. The DM is nowhere to be seen, and the players now embody their characters as if they were always real and exist in this new fantasy world.

Early on in their travels, the teens learn about “The Death King” and eventually find themselves at the center of a brewing war. In a search for the missing GM, the teens come across friends and foes, and learn about the evil plans of “The Death King” that they need to stop if they ever want to make it back home. The players have to navigate hard choices and meet with the consequences of those choices throughout the game. Each player has a character with statistics they can grow and abilities they can make use of during combat situations.
